This October, the Colin Currie Group and long-standing collaborators Synergy Vocals embark on one of their most exciting projects to date: a European tour for the world premiere of the new Steve Reich piece Traveler’s Prayer. Composed with the group in mind, this 15 minute work sets part of the book of Psalms to music. Harmonically rich and complex, it is set to become one of the masterworks of Reich's oeuvre. The group’s founder, Colin Currie, conducts - at the request of Reich himself - leading the two tenors, two sopranos, a double string quartet, two vibraphones and a piano. Unlike many other of Reich’s works, the composer explores new territory with this piece as he creates a slow and reflective mood appropriate for our time.
The tour is comprised of four dates: October 16th at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, October 19th at the Southbank Centre in London, October 26th at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and November 6th at the Philharmonie de Paris.
