After a successful world premiere of Nicole Lizée’s Percussion Concerto with the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Ottawa in Canada, Colin performs in the final Summer Sounds concert at the Avanti Festival in Porvoo, Finland on Sunday 3rd July. The concert, entitled “Body language”, presents a varied programme, including Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture in C Major, Beethoven’s Symphony No 7. in A Major, and Artistic Director Julia Wolfe’s riSE and fLY. Composed in 2012, this “body concerto” for percussion and orchestra emulates the sounds of New York street corners and subways. Colin premiered this masterpiece with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall 10 years ago. This time, he performs with the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Brad Lubman.
