Colin is in residence in Grafenegg, Austria, for two weeks at the Grafenegg Academy which is a programme of events for young professional musicians co-curated by himself and duo partner Håkan Hardenberger. Helen Grime will be composer-in-focus and Colin will not only perform her ‘Percussion Concerto’ but also conduct ‘Near Midnight’ with the Academy Symphony Orchestra.
Colin will work closely with six of the finest young professional percussionists on the international scene and perform works by André Jolivet, Anders Eliasson, and Steve Reich with the group. In the opening concert of the Academy Colin will also conduct the Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Bartók’s ‘Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta’ which will be broadcast by Austrian National Radio.
With Håkan, the duo will perform a new work ‘Passing the Buck’, written especially for them by HK Gruber.
