Colin Currie will be performing three concerts with the Västerås Sinfonietta in Västerås, Sweden on the 23rd, 24th and 26th February. All concerts are led by Maestro Simon Crawford-Phillips and each present a wide variety of repertoire and sound. On 23rd, Mr. Currie will be taking part in the ‘Simon and Friends’ international ensemble performance with Simon Crawford-Phillips and Siwan Rhys on piano, and Owen Gunnell on percussion. The trio will be performing a chamber version of Shostakovich’s Symphony No.15 in A major, Op.141. The following evening (24th) will include Helen Grime’s Percussion Concerto which was first performed by Colin Currie at the Royal Festival Hall in 2019. The concert will also feature Mahler’s atmospheric Blumine which was originally the second movement from his first symphony as well as Mendelssohn’s symphonic masterpiece, the popular "Scottish" Symphony. The final concert presents Steve Reich's Quartet for two pianos and two vibraphones and the Norwegian Rolf Wallin’s Twine.
