On 4th March, Colin Currie returns to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with his quartet to perform as part of the conservatoire’s ‘Big Bash Weekend 2022’ event. This supercharged showcase of contemporary music includes a mixed programme featuring the European Premiere of American composer Hannah Lash’s Prelude and Chorale. The concert continues with a performance of the music of Andy Akiho (Pillar IV), as part of Currie’s continued focus on his compositions. For the first time at this event, the quartet will perform Julia Wolfe’s Dark Full Ride for four drum kits - a major addition to their repertoire. Interspersed between the four quartet works, students from the RWCMD will perform music by Philip Glass.
