‘Conversations’ by Steve Reich will be published by Harper Collins this week in which the composer shares a series of discussions with colleagues and collaborators spanning his career of several decades. The conversations were mostly held during the lockdowns of the pandemic over Zoom, and include artists such as Brian Eno, Jonny Greenwood and Julia Wolfe.
Colin’s chapter looks at his introduction to Steve’s music in the 1990s, the early days and formation of the Colin Currie Group and his most recent collaborations with the composer which include the commissioning of ‘Quartet’ (dedicated to Colin) and the UK Premiere of ‘Reich/Richter’ which Colin conducted at London’s Barbican Centre in October 2019 with the Britten Sinfonia.
