Colin Currie returns to London on 25th March to perform the hugely anticipated world premiere of Danny Elfman’s Percussion Concerto at the Royal Festival Hall. Colin and Danny have a uniquely close and collaborative relationship resulting in a 4 movement work of distinction, depth, and a huge sense of adventure. It was originally supposed to have premiered in 2020 and has since been reworked. Under the baton of maestro Ludwig Wicki, this ‘Movie Legends’ concert also features the London Philharmonic Choir and soprano Grace Davidson. As well as Percussion Concerto, the program also includes Elfman's Alice in Wonderland and Batman Suites, and Howard Shore’s best-selling music from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for Symphony Orchestra and Chorus played live by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The concerto is co-commissioned by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Soka University in California.
