Colin makes his concerto return to the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 29th July with the European Premiere of Nicole Lizée’s riveting concerto ‘Blurr is the Colour of My True Love’s Eyes’. The work was written for Colin and premiered in Canada last month with the NAC Orchestra. On this occasion, he rejoins the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alpesh Chauhan. The work is a massively emotional journey, with as many intricacies as intimacies in the orchestral textures used, and a huge number of extended techniques for the soloist including the use of an analog synth, two electro-acoustic guitars and a cello.

The BBC Proms just published a film of Colin’s previous concerto appearance at the festival, the world premiere of HK Gruber’s ‘into the open…’ with the BBC Philharmonic. You can watch this performance and the documentary surrounding that premiere by clicking here.
