Colin hosts Inside Music on BBC Radio 3
On August 7, Colin hosts BBC Radio 3’s Inside Music, the beloved series presenting a different musician each week. Guest presenters — who have included countless artists such as violinists Rachel Podger and Tamsin Waley-Cohen, singers Lucy Crowe and Joyce DiDonato, and composers Mark Simpson and Gavin Higgins — curate the playlist and explore their selections from the inside. Having hosted his first episode in 2018, Colin returns with personal stories and another eclectic playlist that includes music by Claudio Monteverdi, Radiohead, and Steve Reich.
Conducting Debut with the Chamber Ensemble of the London Symphony Orchestra
On July 31, Colin makes his conducting debut with the Chamber Ensemble of the London Symphony Orchestra. The program, Blurred Boundaries, straddles the line between pop and classical genres with works by Anna Meredith, Andy Aikho, Max Richter, and two composers with whom Colin has a special relationship: Steve Reich and Bryce Dessner.
Grafenegg Festival
On July 18, Colin plays the dual role of soloist and curator of the Festival of the Instruments — the first concert of this year’s Grafenegg Academy Orchestra. The performance includes Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments and Dumbarton Oaks Concerto, Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, and the Austrian premiere of Helen Grime’s sensational Percussion Concerto, composed for Colin in 2018…
