December the 3rd 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the World Premiere of ‘Drumming’ by Steve Reich - in the composer’s 85th year and marking 15 whole years of my ensemble, Colin Currie Group, which was founded initially in order to perform that exact work.

In 2006 Steve turned 70 and the BBC approached me about an event to mark that occasion, as is well documented. The journey since then has been extraordinary, the most recent chapter featuring the world premiere of ‘Traveler’s Prayer’ in a four city European tour and another chance to celebrate his vast, rich and diverse musical output live in concert.

On 19th November, Colin Currie will be performing at the Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall in Manchester alongside the RNCM Wind Orchestra, conducted by Mark Heron, Ann Miller, and Lauren Wasynczuk.

On November 16th, Colin Currie makes his debut at the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Hall in the Czech Republic. Alongside the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, Colin will be performing under the baton of German conductor, Andreas Sebastian Weiser. The program includes works by American composers Steve Reich, Andy Akiho, and Andrew Norman.

On November 6th, the Colin Currie Group ends their European tour with a performance at the Philharmonie de Paris. Along with their long-standing collaborators Synergy Vocals, the group will be performing a program of Steve Reich's music, including Traveler’s Prayer, Tehillim and Music for 18 Musicians. The performance will take place in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, and marks the French premiere of Traveler’s Prayer, a piece written for the Colin Currie Group and Synergy Vocals.

Our highly treasured world premiere by Steve Reich, ‘Traveler’s Prayer’ has finally come into this world, in concert at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and London’s Royal Festival Hall, to wrapt and enthused capacity audiences. We are elated!

This Sunday, October 3rd, marks an extraordinary anniversary for one of music’s greatest pioneers - the 85th birthday of Steve Reich. Of the many causes for celebration on this day, I would perhaps say that his current and tireless musical trajectory is foremost.

This October, the Colin Currie Group and long-standing collaborators Synergy Vocals embark on one of their most exciting projects to date: a European tour for the world premiere of the new Steve Reich piece Traveler’s Prayer. Composed with the group in mind, this 15 minute work sets part of the book of Psalms to music. Harmonically rich and complex, it is set to become one of the masterworks of Reich's oeuvre.

In its 5th Anniversary, Messums Wiltshire welcomes The Bridgepoint Ensemble to its multi-purpose gallery and arts center on September 17th at 7pm. Colin performs a program with the ensemble entitled “Out of the Woods” centering on the re-emergence of live performances.
